2009 brings preparations for a summer 2009 launch of their new gritty and sexy fresh works WE ARE', produced with Kinnie Starr. Built on the unique strength of Digging Roots' live sound with carefully crafted songs, tight studio arrangements and soulful performances. These are artists coming into their own with a groove heavy album that spans a range of emotion from dark haunted heartache to socially charged optimism.
From minimalist melodies, to searing blues inspired slide guitar, to epic Zeppelin-esque solos, Digging Roots set themselves apart from the pack with the fluidity of their musical ideas, playing with references to their influences (think: Hendrix meets Son House meets Derek Trucks) while still shaping an entirely original sound.
At the heart of it all, the core elements of Digging Roots are ShoShona Kish and Raven Kanatakta; a songwriting team who combine indigenous influences with their socially charged lyrics of reservation blues, eclectic beats and waves from the concrete jungle. Along with their stellar rhythm section and rich sub bass tones combined with DJ time-stretched rattles, they are on a journey from coast to coast on a harmonic peace mission to guide us in these times of discord and uncertainty. Be prepared for a GROOVE-alicious, sonic revolution!
Sold-out shows, festivals, and touring over time, have proven they are creative force to be reckoned with. Their music shows us a harmony of possibilities. Such songs of freedom, culture and identity have always held an important place in society for healing and regeneration; improving quality of life, transcending political, cultural and religious barriers. They continue to build on those solid foundations, showing us that their musical path is one of love, pure talent, unity and advocacy.
